How Slowing Down Helped Me Find What Matters

For a long time, I thought progress meant doing more.

More goals.

More projects.

More ideas.

More plans.

More things to fit into a single day.

Like many people, I had a long list of things I wanted to accomplish and become. I wanted to grow my businesses, learn new skills, explore new interests, improve my health, help other people, and build a life that felt meaningful and fulfilling.

The problem wasn't that I lacked motivation.

The problem was that I was trying to move in too many directions at once.

I remember downloading a productivity app because I wanted to create more structure in my days. My mom had often encouraged me to make a schedule so I would have enough time to accomplish the things that mattered to me. At the time, that sounded like exactly what I needed.

So I made the schedule.

Then I filled it with everything.

Every idea.

Every project.

Every possibility.

Every future version of myself I thought I should be working toward.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stick to it.

At the time, I thought the problem was discipline.

Looking back, I see something different.

The problem wasn't the schedule.

The problem was the noise.

My attention was scattered because I was trying to build ten different futures at the same time.

I was so focused on what I might want someday that I wasn't paying attention to what felt right in the present moment.

It wasn't until I slowed down that things started becoming clear.

Instead of asking myself what I should do, I started paying attention to what naturally held my attention.

What activities made time disappear?

What work energized me instead of draining me?

What projects kept calling me back even when nobody was watching?

What felt aligned with both my personality and my nervous system?

Those questions changed everything.

As I became more present in my everyday life, I started noticing patterns.

I noticed which types of work put me into a state of flow.

I noticed which ideas brought me genuine excitement.

I noticed which opportunities felt forced and which felt natural.

Most importantly, I began noticing what truly mattered to me.

That process eventually helped me lay the foundation for a service business in a field that aligns with my skills, interests, and natural strengths.

It also led to a much bigger realization.

It helped me discover what Yogi Warriors was actually meant to become.

When I first started Yogi Warriors, I thought it was a collection of products for yoga lovers and pet parents.

Over time, something deeper revealed itself.

By slowing down and paying attention to what resonated most strongly with both me and the people engaging with the brand, I began to see the common thread.

Yogi Warriors wasn't really about products.

It was about support.

It was about helping people create calm, happy places within their everyday lives.

That realization didn't come from forcing an answer.

It came from being present long enough to hear it.

I think many of us spend a lot of our lives searching for clarity when what we actually need is space.

Space to notice.

Space to listen.

Space to pay attention to what keeps calling us forward.

The answers we're looking for aren't always hidden.

Sometimes they're simply buried beneath the noise.

When we slow down enough to become present with ourselves, something remarkable happens.

We begin to remember who we are.

We begin to recognize what lights us up.

We begin to understand what we're here to create and contribute.

And little by little, we stop trying to become everything.

We start becoming ourselves.

If there's one thing I've learned, it's this:

You don't need to have all the answers today.

You don't need a perfect five-year plan.

You don't need to force clarity.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is slow down, take a breath, and pay attention.

The next step will reveal itself when you're ready to see it.

And often, that's more than enough.
